Figure 3.1-3.3 Visual Making Collage 1st attempt (Week 2,
8/9/2023)
I refer back my visual references and make another attempt for my visuals
making after week 2.
I used graphic elements found in Canva as well as other picture from website
like Pinterest or Unsplash besides my own image.
I used physical collage and digital collage for the next attempt.

Feedback
-
Kinda works as it has a same look and feel to it
Week 3
-
Study the principles of the references more, apply contrast and composition
to your work.
Use a colour palette
Week 2
-
Follow the format and finish off the 3000 words with subtext and pull quote,
highlight text for 16 visuals. For collage, need to find reference, know how
to differenciate between good and bad works.
Reflection
Experience
-
For the content generation, I decided to write about my
thinking of daily life, my routine and how I find little
happiness within it. I have quite a hard time writing it
because of my lack of writing skills. I finished the 3000
words in the end but I'm not really satisfied with my
writing. For the visuals, I decided to go with photography
and collage, I used image from the internet and some of my
own image.
Observations
-
I need to follow a certain colour palette or have a theme to
make my work looks consistency.
Having contrast in a work is also important because it leads to
hierarchy of the layout.
Findings
-
I learned that to make a book, there's a lot of printing needed.
Before deciding the final layout, printing thumbnail is
essential as we could look all of the pages in one. Printing in
Black and White could allow us to see it is contrast enough or
not.

5 Principles of Layout Design
-
Alignment, Visual Hierarchy, Contrast, Balance, Proximity
Purpose of Grid in Layout Design is to create balance, to make the
image cohesive and to create an appealing image.
To create a good layout design, we need to create a mood board with
our layout references such as page layouts, colour palettes,
typography, and ideas on how information can be arranged.
Next, when designing the layout, our design has to be matched with the
content. Use grid to guide yourself in designing the layouts.
Create contrast with colour, typography, shape and balance. You could
also play around with the typography to create visual interest.
Embrace the white space, use negative space to avoid busy
layout.
Experiment with the rules and play with your design.
